Do you remember your first love? Not the object or person of your love, but the feeling itself. The innocence. The overwhelming capacity with which you loved. The purity. The behemoth that enveloped every atom of your being. So great was your ability to love that every subsequent affection you’ve attempted to bestow upon an innocent passerby has paled in comparison. Mind you, it has nothing...

SWEET TALK. by Billy Collins
oscarprgirl:
You are not the Mona Lisa with that relentless look. Or Venus borne over the froth of waves on a pink half shell. Or an odalisque by Delacroix, veils lapping at your nakedness. You are more like the sunlight of Edward Hopper, especially when it slants against the eastern side of a white clapboard house in the early hours of the morning, with no figure standing at a window in a...

Yesterday, thoughts of her first love came floating back. In hindsight, maybe it was the workings of a greater entity trying to point out something. She knew he had a troubled life when they had broken up; that he was on a downward spiral and she had to save herself. She shut him out and refused to take his calls throughout the years following. She got older and found herself in a good place in...

In three months I will be on a plane flying away from Blacksburg, Virginia, the U.S.
In three months I will be in a plane. In three months my life will no longer be consumed with group projects. In three months. Goodbye comfortable college life. In three months I will be on a plane. In three months I will be on a plane.
This is my mantra and it’s all that I have from wanting to crawl in a...
You know how I know it’s different? You never looked me in the eye for more than 5 seconds. Ever. When it comes down to it, I don’t think I ever crossed that wall with you. It never occurred to me how much you can understand about someone by just staring into their eyes, until now. I can see his hope, fear, light, happiness. And he can see mine. You never allowed me in, and...

the adult life
All this hoopla, talk, decisions about job offers, career choices, starting salaries, living arrangements, etc. is hitting me like a ton of bricks. It’s the last week of work and I have a million decisions to start thinking about (granted, a few months ago I would’ve died to even have the options and choices I now have). When did I become responsible enough to make my own decisions? On...
Things Unspoken.
I don’t believe that any amount of spoken words could ever do these feelings justice. It’s an immense, swelling appreciation for everything that he is; It’s how I can come up with a new reason, every day, on why he is so amazing; It’s captured in the way I can stare into those deep hazel eyes for hours on end and firmly believe that in those moments, with him next to me,...
Happiness, as it should be.
He once said to me, “You control your happiness.” And in those moments, I knew that this was someone I needed; (“Need” in the sense that my soul has been craving his presence). It was hopeful, refreshing, and beautiful. They were such simple words, yet they struck at my innermost being. I’ve been surrounded by so much darkness and angst for as long as I can remember...

Little things
Yesterday I mentioned in passing (in a large group of people) how much I love Greek yogurt with honey. This morning, he came to work and put the very exact thing on my desk. It’s so great how random thoughtful acts can make you so happy. I think I’m still melting…

Weekend
This had to be one of the best weekends, in a very long time. Impulsively, we road-tripped to Rehoboth Beach. Then we rented one of those tandem bicycles and rode around the neighborhood beach homes. We even got Rita’s and Sonic. It couldn’t have been more perfect. I think I’ve found my very own Christopher Carrabba, only he’s taller and more handsome :)
